Mission 116

by: Lydia Zhang

A long time ago,Buddha, on their last day in their physical form, created a man by the name of Nearl. Nearl’s purpose was to help the people become aware of the six realms of existence and to save mankind and animals. Over time, as Buddha became reborn every few years, they created a new human to help preach  buddha’s will everytime. In present time, Nearl had currently been dispatched on world 212, a universe where humans and robots coexisted. However, this universe would perish quickly as its lands had been destroyed and food was scarce for those who could not afford it. “Food please..?” A young man weakly asked. Nearl’s pity for the people in this world could not be contained. Just how long has this world in this condition? Nearl thought to himself. Shortly after his arrival on world 212, found out that 212 had been overtaken by rich humans and their robots. The rich people had replaced their workers with robots and lost all mercy for mankind. However, Nearl was determined to help the humans no matter how inhumane they were. “Excuse me, sir, '' Nearl said after bumping into someone. “Tch” said the man. Nearl had seen the disrespect the people in this world treated each other with. Fearing what buddha may turn them into in another life, Nearl prayed to buddha; “Buddha, please forgive the people of this world, for they do not know your values and will.” Nearl’s plan in this world was to continue giving to those in need and develop a following for buddha. A few months later, Nearl’s mission was a success. He managed to preach the word that should we treat others with kindness, Buddha would respond the same way back. As people began to treat others more kindly, Buddha responded with more riches, better agriculture and fewer disasters upon the land. Nearl’s goal in world 212 had been fulfilled.

Not too long after, the overworld had become fully aware of buddha’s will, spreading kindness to all beings on their respective worlds. However, a higher up world, ruled by buddha’s son, Demigod Dusk had seemed to become overturned by turmoil. As buddha’s strongest soldier, Nearl, he had the duty to cleanse and find out what Dusk had been up to in world 116. Upon Nearls first landing in world 116, he discovered the world that had once been populated by animals of all kind, were all now replaced by hell beings. The world had been burnt to a crisp, the well kept forests now full of dog-like hell beings, holes in the ground that once held water, now holds the many skulls of the mystical animals of Dusk’s creation. Nearl rushed to Dusk’s castle. Nearl bust through the doors, “Dusk! What have you done?! Buddha did not give you this land to ruin!” Nearl cried. “Silence.” Said Dusk “I refuse to listen to the servants of Buddha any longer.” Sending Nearl out of his castle. Dusk appeared gray-ish almost looking dead. He had a skinny appearance along with a crown that glowed red. Nearl had to search to find out what happened to Dusk. “Excuse me-“ said a high-pitched voice. Nearl looked down to see a glowing young unicorn, “what do I have here?” Nearl asked, “I can’t find my mother…” the young unicorn said, whilst being close to tears. “Where is your village, young one?” Asked Nearl, hopefully being able to find more people who knew what happened to this sacred land. “I don’t know… I wanted to find my mother but now I'm lost,” said the young unicorn. “Heidre! Where are you!” A faint voice looking for someone could be heard far away. “Granny! Granny! I’m here! I’ve found someone” the unicorn responded. Nearl and the young unicorn, Heidre, waited for her grandmother to arrive. “Thank goodness you’re safe, you shouldn’t wander off, a wild hell being could hurt you.” She explains in relief. The grandmother thanks Nearl and brings him back to explain how the land became this way. “Dusk was once the demi god of this land, ruling and protecting the peace. However, there was a king who used black magic selfishly and wanted to rule as well. He manipulated Dusk and began to open up the land to allow his hell beings into the land.” The grandmother said. “Where is this king?” Nearl asked, “He is currently hidden in the castle, using Dusk as his cover.” The grandmother responded. After adjusting to the climate in this world, Nearl had set off once again. He used Buddha’s wisdom and began to preach it to those who were not hell beings. Slowly, their prayers reached Buddha and the land slowly began to regrow, agriculture became better and the hell beings lessened. Nearl finally went to confront Dusk once again. Nearl snuck deep into the palace, avoiding guards and finally reaching the hidden room where the king had hid. “Sir King, you mustn't use black magic this way, you will be punished and will not ascend if you continue to manipulate the demigod, Dusk.” Nearl pleaded. The king’s resolve was immovable. “I need this land, no one respects me as their king.” The king responded sorrowfully. Nearl explained, “Do not be afraid to pray and open your mind to Buddha’s wisdom, you will find peace and your people will begin to see you as their ruler.” Nearls wisdom had finally reached the king, the king had only wanted his people to respect him but did not know that it did not take fear to earn respect. The king apologized to Dusk, apologizing for his misuse of black magic. Dusk said, “You need not get rid of this black magic, for it can be used for good.” Preceding Dusk’s words, he began to transform the hell beings using black magic and turned them into animals of the land, unicorns and magical beings who now live alongside the people of the kingdom. The king had reflected and thanked Buddha and his servant Nearl for bringing him the wisdom he needed to rule successfully over his land.
